Holiday Styling Guide
The holiday season is one of our favorite times to express our creativity and find new ways to style with silk. This year we partnered with our friends at Red Cap Cards to bring you some tono-inspired looks for your upcoming festivities. Here's a few tips to keep in mind while creating your own holiday magic.
Short on time or have a complicated shape to gift? Try bundling up your presents in a fabric wrap, also known as Furoshiki. There are hundreds of different styles and ways to tie your gifts. Our Silk Scarves and Silk Hankies make the perfect wrap for gifts both big and small. Plus you can wear the wrapping! We've used favorites from our Natural and Earth Collections and Tropics Wrap to bundle unique shapes, including our scarf tubes.
Picking a color scheme is one of the easiest ways to simplify your styling process. Having a designated theme gives you a guideline to follow and will bring a sense of cohesion to your wrapping. Don't know where to start? Check out our intro on color theory here. One of our go-to color themes is to use monochromatic tones. Styling with different variations of the same hue is an excellent way to elevate your gift decor, while keeping your choices uncomplicated. We chose multiple tones from The Color Green and our Forest Collection to pair with the Olive Wild Bag.
Want to go the extra mile with your gift wrap? Pick an additional paper to pair with it. We like to use something simple to highlight, rather than detract from your chosen gift paper. Choosing a complementary tone is a great way to bring your holiday wrapping front and center and give it the focus of attention. For this look we chose to use a Moss Classic Ribbon to contrast with the Retro Ornaments Wrap and give the entire piece a sense of unity.
Don't be afraid to go bold! Finding a statement color to base your styling on can be the perfect recipe for a unique and adventurous look. Choose a tone that speaks to you and build from there. We paired the bright tones from our Golden Collection with the yellow details from the Comets Wrap by Red Cap Cards.
Utilizing multiple textures in your styling can really add some depth and catch the eye! You can even try pairing different sized or colored ribbons to see what various affects you can create. We like pairing our Gossamer Ribbons with their coordinating colors in Classic Ribbon. Pictured are both textures in Limited Edition Poppy with Otomi Wrap.
We hope this inspired a spark of creativity for your upcoming holiday wrapping! Let us know your favorite styling tips and be sure to show us your gifts under the tree.
